The gallery is pleased to announce the participation of artist Franklyn Dzingai in the 61st International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale 2026, as part of the Zimbabwe Pavilion.
Curated by Fadzai Veronica Muchemwa and presented under the title Second Nature | Manyonga, the project brings together five artists whose practices reflect on themes of transformation, memory, and contemporary resilience.

Franklyn Dzingai’s practice is distinguished by his use of relief printing on cardboard, a technique developed through a subtractive process that is both rigorous and irreversible. His works, characterized by dense compositions and vibrant chromatic layering, intertwine imagery drawn from family photographs, magazines, and visual archives to investigate the relationship between individual memory and collective identity.
Dzingai’s participation in the Venice Biennale represents an important international recognition and further confirms the growing attention toward contemporary African artistic practices capable of combining technical experimentation, social reflection, and narrative depth.
The Zimbabwe Pavilion will be hosted at Santa Maria della Pietà, Venice, from May 9 to November 22, 2026.
